Our land without oil campaign

📆 June 22-28, 2025

📍 Bukavu

As part of the organization of the international week of action, activists organized in solidarity with the fifty or so actions organized globally in Africa, Europe, South America, and North America to form a united front against the new auction of the 52 oil blocks and its irreversible consequences on the rich environment of the Congo Basin and the East African Rift, which is littered with great marine biodiversity; its consequences on the millions of indigenous people who live in the area where the oil blocks are being established, in disregard of their fundamental rights.

These oil blocks were established without a prior geological study or a solid environmental impact assessment;  This allows us to understand the financial machinations involved in awarding oil blocks to companies like Trafigura, Total Energie, PERENCO, CNOOC, and others, but also to certain dishonest individuals. This is simply to keep them warm without exploitation and so that the Congolese government can ultimately pay out inflated damages in the event of non-exploitation. This has already left the country with more than $910 million in debt.

The Congolese government's financial mobilization of $2 trillion also proves illusory.

Our Targets: TRAFIGURA, TOTAL ENERGIE, PERENCO, CNOOC, the Congolese Government, project insurers, financing banks,

Several climate activists are meeting at kituku market, Goma, to draw the line, reclaim, resist and demand end of fossil fuel funding, 52 oils blocs project in DRC, by calling global leaders, government to stop funding fossil fuel company ( trafigura, perenco, total energy) in DRC land.  This campaign lauchet by 350.org, Climate Action Network- Internatinal and Africans Rising. the main mesage was "kick of fossil fuel company", "polluter must paid", "Finance renewable energy not crisis".
